Ad-Blocking Apps Are Yet Another Blow for Publishers

Online publishers, which earn up to 75% of their money from mobile ads, may need to find other sources of revenue now that Apple has enabled ad-blocking apps through its new mobile operating system, iOS 9, according to a report in The New York Times. One estimate says blockers will cost publishers nearly $22 billion in revenue in 2015. The number of people who have installed ad blockers has risen 48% over the past year, to about 16% of U.S. internet users, the Times says.
