July 22, 2015 You Might Get Normal Amounts of Sleep and Still Have InsomniaInsomnia may be more about the quality than the duration of sleep. Past studies have revealed that about half of people reporting insomnia sleep at least 6 hours a night, which is a normal amount, according to the Wall Street Journal, but Dr. Daniel J. Buysse of the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine reports on new research showing that even during sleep, insomniacs are aware and thinking. The findings suggest that alternative treatments such as mindfulness meditation may be helpful for targeting overactive brain regions. |
