July 16, 2015 Women Leave Bigger Tips for Attractive WaitressesIn a survey study at restaurants, a researcher with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration found that attractive servers earned, on average, $1,261 more annually in tips than their unattractive counterparts, an effect that apparently was mainly due to female customers' giving bigger tips to attractive waitresses. The surveys suggest that the reason was simple: Customers prefer attractive servers over unattractive servers, says the researcher, Matt Parrett. Past studies have shown that womens' appearance evokes stronger reactions than mens'. |
