A Significant Part of Your Carbon Footprint Comes from Air Travel
Air travel, though relatively infrequent, constitutes 15% of the average household carbon-emissions footprint, according to a survey of Canadian homes by Emily Huddart Kennedy of the University of Alberta and two colleagues. About half of the household carbon footprint comes from a combination of heating, cooling, and cooking; car transportation contributes about 30%. Rich families' carbon footprints are 2.2 times greater than poor families', the research shows.
