December 23, 2014 Is Your Credit-Card Debt Nearing the Tipping Point?Some analysts believe there is a credit-card-debt tipping point at which minimum payments rise so high that they become unsustainable and delinquencies skyrocket. According to card-comparison site CardHub, the current U.S. average household credit-card balance is expected to reach $7,126 by the end of this year, only about $1,200 shy of that tipping point, Palash Ghosh writes in Credit Union Journal. Although default rates are at a three-decade low, consumers' credit-card debt is rising quickly and is predicted to be 55% higher this year than last year. |
