If Your Job Interview Was Too Easy, You Might Not Want That Job

Difficult job interviews are linked to greater satisfaction in that job, a recent analysis found. Looking at a sample of Glassdoor interview reviews and company reviews from job seekers in the U.S., U.K., Canada, Australia, France, and Germany, Andrew Chamberlain and Ayal Chen-Zion of Glassdoor found that a 10% harder job interview is associated with 2.6% higher job satisfaction later on. They also found that the optimal or “best” level of interview difficulty is 4 out of 5 (with 5 being the most difficult interview) — in other words, an interview that candidates perceive to be difficult but not overwhelmingly so.
