Meth Labs Provide a Business Niche for an Ex-Police Officer

Laura Spaulding, a former Kansas City police officer, was inspired to start a business by the sight of illegal methamphetamine labs that were left intact when meth makers were hauled off to jail. Seeing a "recession-proof" need, she opened a company in Florida offering to clean up busted meth labs. Although she cleans other types of crime scenes, as well as homes inhabited by hoarders, a third of her business still consists of meth sites; she handles more than 300 annually and is thinking of franchising the business, says the Wall Street Journal.
